Complete Translation Control

The Global Director Center gives you several ways to control translation, plus some guidelines. Many clients have their own preference for organizing translation, so you can enable them to do what makes them happy without the client being constantly in your hair. This Global Director Center links to a list of Qualified Professional Translators (see right column) or @International Services can manage the translation for you.

You may invite translators to translate directly online inside the software while watching the video or the software can export Excel or MS Word files for translators to use with translation memory such as Trados or DejaVu, and then re-import the results online with a click.

When working with your own or client's vendor, one of the major issues in any translation is timing the translation to fit the original video/audio timing. Translators who are not experienced with media are notorious for inserting entire paragraphs of new content, or translating scripts that are far too long to be read in the original timing of the video. The timing issue can be resolved using the Global Director Center software no matter who translates. See the page on Script Adaptation.

Translation Choices

Qualified, professional translator
You can contact @International Services anytime for translation support and honest advice. Additionally, there is a list of Qualified Professional Translators in the right column to directly contact a translator with a click. These translators have been hand-picked and quality tested, and have proven themselves over the years. They are PhD's, have Masters in translation, certified by the U.S. State Department or American Translators Association, or similar qualifications.

Do-It-Yourself or "Wiki-style"
If you translate yourself, with your client, or "wiki-style" (group participation), all translation is free of charge in the software. So, if you are a global company, you can assign people in your branch offices to translate - just give them a password, and the rest is easy! If you are a native speaker or a translator yourself, this is a perfect software for you to do-it-yourself.

Automated translation
The Global Director Center is linked to automated translation software. For video, automated translation is not recommend for script translation, however it can be extremely useful for translating mountains of footage at low cost, then the selected areas of footage can be "cleaned" or improved for editing by a qualified translator.

Auto-translation "cleaned" by a general translator
With a click, you can outsource the clean up effort to a translator of general qualifications, greatly improving the auto-translation yet keeping the cost down. This approach is no match the natural, beautiful flow of words that comes from a professional translator, but is applicable to mass subtitling and generally useful for mountains of video.
